April 2008 saw the release of Mario Kart Wii, one of the most successful Mario Kart titles to date. While previous games in the series did have staff ghosts to race, which are the best times some of the developers got on the tracks in the game, Mario Kart Wii began to represent these staff ghosts using Miis made by that developer. This results in 64 Mii data files across all 64 tracks in the game (counting Mirror Mode), though not 64 unique Miis as some are repeated.
